Our Ummah is being tested like never before. We have seen millions of our brothers and sisters across the world affected by conflict, climate change and natural disasters in the last year alone. Global food shortages and inflation are pushing many families to the brink of starvation and famine and child malnutrition is a growing problem in emergency zones like Somalia, Yemen and Afghanistan.

Qurbani : The Greatest Sacrifice

It's time to give Qurbani!

°¿³Ü°ùÌýQurbaniÌýis the greatest sacrifice – a weighty promise that everything we own is for Allah and that we submit to him entirely.Ìý

As Eid approaches, we get ready to follow in the footsteps of Prophet Ibrahim (as), who was ready to sacrifice what was most dear to him upon Allah’s command. This year, you really are making the greatest sacrifice that will have the greatest impact on the Ummah.Ìý

You can also donate a UK Qurbani and have two thirds of the meat delivered to your door, while the other thirds feeds the most vulnerable here in the UKÌý through our Open Kitchen initiative.Ìý

‘Their meat will not reach Allah, nor will their blood, but what reaches Him is piety from you.’ [The Noble Qur’an, 22:37]Ìý

When you donate a Qurbani with ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ, the meat will be distributed to those most in need, nourishing them during the days of Eid al-Adha and beyond, and bringing them joy in these hard times. Meanwhile, the essence of your offering will reach Allah – so we urge you to give a sacrifice truly worthy of this status, according to your means.Ìý

We also urge you to follow the Prophet’s practice of giving an additional Qurbani on behalf of the the Muslims who can not afford to do so.Ìý

The Hanafi school states that any adult, sane Muslim who possesses the Nisab value must give a Qurbani. So if you are eligible to pay Zakat, you need to offer a Qurbani.Ìý

The Maliki and Hanbali schools state that the person responsible for the household can make the Qurbani on their behalf.Ìý

However, in many households today, it is not uncommon to have two or more people who pay Zakat. The best and safest option is for a Qurbani to be offered for each person eligible for giving Zakat.

Eid al-Adha is expected to fall on the 7th or 8th of June 2025.
To ensure your Qurbani is carried out in time and remains valid, we strongly encourage you to give it before these dates.

Qurbani quotas in each location are limited and fill up quickly — so don’t wait.
Give your Qurbani early to avoid missing out.

Qurbani is an obligation on all Muslims who possess wealth above the Nisab value - so if you are eligible to pay Zakat, then you must give a Qurbani.

This annual sacrifice also carries the great meaning of representing the sacrifice that Prophet Ibrahim (as) was prepared to make in honour of our Creator.

Yes, it is permissible to give Qurbani on behalf of someone else. You can pay for your own Qurbani as well as members of your family, or anyone else. The Prophet (saw) would even give an extra Qurbani on behalf of his Ummah.Ìý

It is not mandatory to offer the names of people, when performing their sacrifice. However, if you would like to give names when donating your Qurbani, you can, but please note that our teams performing the sacrifice do not repeat these names during the sacrifical process.

The important thing is the intention that is made when the person is offering the Qurbani.

‘The Prophet (saw) sacrificed for the one who could not sacrifice from his Ummah, one who bore witness to the Oneness of Allah and [his] Prophethood’. [Tabarani and Ahmad]

After fulfilling his personal obligation, the Prophet (saw) gave an additional Qurbani on behalf of the Muslims who could not afford to do so. We encourage all of our donors to revive this forgotten Sunnah and help more needy people.

No, Qurbani is a separate ritual from Zakat. However, anyone who is eligible for Zakat (any adult, sane Muslim who possesses the Nisab value) must also give a Qurbani, in accordance with the Hanafi school.

¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ works hard to ensure that the meat from your Qurbani is distributed to those in need during the days of Eid al-Adha.

We choose the sacrificial animals based on their availability and value in each location. Whether this is a sheep, goat or a share in a cow, the reward for your Qurbani will be the same. For more details on each location, please contact 0115 911 7222.

One Qurbani is either a small animal, such as a goat, or a share in a larger animal, like a cow. Neither is more rewardable i.e. both fulfil your obligation.

The price of each animal will vary country to country. See our full list of locations above for more details.

This year we are offering Qurbani in emergency zones including Afghanistan, Yemen, Palestine, Kashmir (India), Somalia, Sudan, Türkiye, Syria and the Rohingya refugee camps. You can give your Qurbani to the victims of these conflict and disaster zones to help those in urgent need.

Alternatively, our ‘Where Most Needed’ option ensures that your Qurbani reaches those who need it most on the days of Eid.

You must make up for missing the Qurbani by offering the market value of one sheep/goat to the poor. You can do this through ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ.

The Sunnah Qurbani

‘The Prophet (saw) sacrificed for the one who could not sacrifice from his Ummah, one who bore witness to the Oneness of Allah and [his] Prophethood’. [Ahmad]

The Prophet (saw) would offer an extra QurbaniÌýon behalf of Muslims who couldn’t afford to. This merciful deed would allow more people from his Ummah to share in the blessings of Eid al-Adha.

By offering a second, Prophetic Qurbani, you will be doubling your impact, feeding more people during the blessed days of Eid al-Adha. Don’t miss out on these rewards!
