¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ Evansville seeks an instructor for it's upcoming Line Worker Academy. This is an in person role based on the Evansville, IN campus. The Electric Lineman Adjunct Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality classroom and hands-on instruction that prepares students for careers as electric lineworkers. This role emphasizes safety, industry standards, and practical skill development aligned with utility and electrical industry needs. The instructor supports student success through effective teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with industry partners.

The Electric Line Academy is an intensive skills-based training program designed to prepare participants for entry-level employment in the electric utility industry. The program emphasizes safety, hands-on technical skills, and workforce readiness through a structured progression from foundational safety training to coreÌýline workerÌýcompetencies and advanced field operations. Upon completion, participants are equipped with practical experience, industry-recognized certifications, and job readiness skills aligned with employer expectations.Ìý

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesÌý

  • Teach electric line coursework, including overhead and underground distribution, transmission basics, and equipment operationÌý

  • Deliver hands-on training in pole climbing, rigging, framing, transformer installation, grounding, and related skillsÌý

  • Enforce OSHA and utility safety standards at all timesÌý

  • Develop, update, andÌýmaintainÌýlesson plans, labs, and assessments aligned with program and accreditation requirementsÌý

  • Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedbackÌý

  • Maintain training equipment, tools, and lab environments in safe working conditionÌý

  • Model professional behavior, teamwork, and jobsite expectationsÌý

  • Support student career readinessÌýandÌýemployability skillsÌýÌý

  • Collaborate with workforce development staff, employers, and advisory committeesÌý

Hiring Range:

$45.00 per contact hour, this course is planned to run 360 hours.

Work Hours:Ìý

These classes will be scheduled to run ÌýMonday–Thursday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

Required QualificationsÌý

  • Journey-level ElectricÌýLineworkerÌýor equivalent industry experienceÌý

  • Minimum of 5 years of recent field experience in electric distribution and/or transmissionÌý

  • Strong working knowledge of electrical safety practices and regulationsÌý

  • Ability toÌýdemonstrateÌýand teach physical, hands-on skills safelyÌý

  • Effective communication and instructional skillsÌý

  • CDL AÌýlicenseÌý

Preferred QualificationsÌý

  • Teaching or training experience in a technical, apprenticeship, or workforce settingÌý

  • Associate degree or higher in a related fieldÌý

  • Experience working with utility companies, cooperatives, or contractorsÌý

  • Current industry certifications (OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, CDL,ÌýFlagging,Ìýetc.)Ìý

  • Smart Grid Fundamentals and Grid Modernization knowledgeÌý

  • ExperienceÌýwithÌýand ability to train onÌýInsulated Areal Device (bucket truck)Ìý

  • Digger Derrick experience and knowledgeÌý

  • OSHA instructionÌý
